Frequently Asked Questions

Are your translators certified?

We always aim to have projects carried out by experienced translators and linguists who are certified by the American Translators Association or, where necessary, by a comparable association in another country.  This helps to ensure that translations are of a professional standard and faithful versions of the original documents.  In some cases, such as rare languages, this will not be possible due to the fact that certified translator status is not available in all language combinations.

How much will it cost?

In order to provide you with an accurate quote, we will need to receive the original document to be translated or a good quality scan of the same by e-mail.  This will allow us to count the number of words to be translated.  Our fees are based on the number of words in the original document.  At this preliminary stage, copies of original documents (such as birth certificates) will be sufficient for quoting purposes.  If original documents need to be attached to the translations for certification purposes, arrangements can be made to provide these documents securely in order to prevent their loss.  If you are happy with the quoted cost, we will then place the translation project with a translator best suited to carry this out.

How long will it take to complete my translation?

When we provide the initial quote, we will also indicate how long it will take to complete the translation.  This will be an estimate, as the translation process may involve some additional terminology or background research in order to ensure its accuracy.  As all projects are completed by human translators — not machines or software — some flexibility is required.  Once a deadline for delivery of the translation has been agreed, we will do our utmost to ensure that you receive the translation on time.

What payment methods do you accept?

If you are a private individual, we will need to receive payment in full before we can proceed with the translation.  Payment can be made via PayPal, check or money order.  The translation project will proceed once payment is cleared.  In the case of corporations, we will issue and invoice at the time the translation is delivered.  Our corporate payment terms are thirty days from the date of invoice.

How do I get my documents to you?

The easiest and most expedient way of getting your documents to us is by e-mail, in the form of a Word document, a good quality scan and ideally as a PDF document.  This facilitates the process of forwarding your document to the translator who will be carrying out the translation.  Failing this, by prior arrangement, we can receive your document by fax.  You can also send us a copy of the original document for translation by regular mail.
